Treatment Options

Treatments for Peyronie’s disease will be discussed at your appointment and an individualized treatment plan will be formulated based on your goals.

  1. Oral medications - many have been tried, but no oral therapy has been shown to definitively improve penile deformity. Therefore, oral medicines are not routinely used for treatment.

  2. Penile traction - this is similar to physical therapy for the penis, with the goal to stretch/bend the penis is the opposite direction of the curvature. Many devices are available online.

  3. Plaque injection therapy - Collagenase Clostridium Histolyticum (trade name Xiaflex®) is a medication that is injected through a series of treatments. It is FDA approved for curvature between 30-90 degrees. This has good evidence from randomized control trials to improve both curvature and patient reported bother.

  4. Surgery - There are different surgical options that we can discuss. The type of surgery will depend on the type of deformity, degree of curvature, and if there is erectile dysfunction present. Surgery has the main benefit of offering the largest degree of curvature improvement.
